Personal Comfort

Does dentistry have to hurt?
There is no reason for dentistry to hurt a lot. If you take the time to find out what people are having a problem with you can get around it and make them more comfortable. Our reception areaI think some of the things we do are inherently uncomfortable, but we can still get around it most of the time, either with getting people properly numb or different medications such as nitrous oxide. We have had excellent success with distraction though watching a movie on our movie headset or listening to music. One recent patient was so distracted by the movie on the movie headset he didn't want to leave the chair after his cleaning. He was surprised when we told him he was done, he wanted to see the end of the show.

It doesn’t have to hurt, and if it does, then your dentist is just not taking enough time to listen and make it right. That’s why we always tell people, if you’re in trouble, if you need us to stop, raise your hand and we’ll stopOur spacious patient area and figure it out. We’ll take care of the problem. If we can’t take care of the problem we’ll stop the whole procedure until we can do it another day or until we can figure out how to make it so it is comfortable.

We don’t want to work on somebody that hurts. In extreme cases, there are general anesthesiologists who will bring their equipment to our office. They can put our patients under, then we can go in and do our work. You can have everything here from general anesthesia to local anesthetic. Oral medications such as Valium are also available. We can do many different things, we will find a level to make you comfortable.
